I buy it. Surveyor’s symbols are frequently paired with violent rhetoric like “It’s time to take a stand.” In fact, earlier this year, I had a surveyor come out to my house to establish once and for all where the property line is that separates my neighbor’s yard from mine. You see, we have this oak tree that I really want to cut down because I hate raking leaves and it blocks the sunshine from reaching my garden and makes my tomatoes grow like shit.

The surveyor’s report clearly said, “It’s time to take a stand. That oak tree is on your side of the property line.” So, I walked over to my neighbor’s house and shot him in the face.
